PBS Bento
Role: Art Direction, User Interface & Visual Design
Bento is the PBS provided CMS for stations and producers to create their own custom websites. As the lead designer on Bento, I did multiple projects for the tool over my 3.5 years at PBS.
Blog Grid
Producers and stations wanted a more visual display for blogs. The layout had to be flexible enough to include a variety of information and image dimensions. The resulting design was meant to be flexible enough to include categories, social media, various image dimensions, and no length caps on titles or descriptions.
Profile Grid
Producers wanted a grid based layout where they could highlight characters. While the original request was specific to character profiles, I designed the grid so it would be flexible enough to work for a variety of purposes, such as recipes or sponsorship. Clicking on the grid photos reveals a information box. This box requires, at a minimum, a title and description, but producers can also add a main button linking to more information, and additional links with related content.
Passport Header and Footer Template
Passport is a responsive header and footer template created to give stations the ability to brand their page. I worked with a developer to create an algorithm that would produce a color palette based on a color input by the user. This color palette was then implemented in various parts of the design to customize the page.
The header has multiple optional links and navigation elements, as well as an area for the station to include a custom branded image and logo.
The footer was created to be a flexible mega footer.
At mobile sizes, the menu collapses to a side menu, which allows for a variety of navigation lengths possible from stations.
